The Things I've Thought

A podcast series that explores how our minds sometimes try to sabotage us, why it happens, and what to do if yours does.

THE BRIEF

Swinburne University wanted to create a podcast that supports their students navigating mental health challenges. Host Hannah McElhinney (VICE, Triple J) presents five stories exploring how our minds sometimes try to sabotage us, why it happens, and what to do if yours does.

Featuring the stories of students, The Things I’ve Thought examines substance abuse, depression, homelessness, domestic abuse, anxiety, and eating disorders in a relaxed and relatable way. The stories are personal, informative, and are a much-needed tool in the effort to smash the stigma around mental health and bring these conversations out into the open.

WHAT WE DID

Working with the Swinburne team, our producer helped research and develop the episode outlines, recorded interviews in the studio and out in the field, and then crafted the episodes through rounds of audio editing, scripting and mixing.

We also engaged the illustrator Elin Andersson, who created the beautiful podcast artwork and additional illustrations for the promotion of each episode.
