THE BRIEF
Parks Victoria wanted help in making a series that gave listeners a closer look at how climate change is impacting Victoria's national parks and reserves, and what work is being done behind the scenes by park rangers, scientific experts and community volunteers to ensure their native flora and fauna doesn't just survive, but thrives.
WHAT WE DID
Working with the Parks Victoria team and Dr Mark Norman, our producer visited national parks in Victoria in both the alpine regions and on the coast, interviewing park rangers, scientists and citizen scientists about the work they are all doing to protest the natural environments under their charge.
They collected field recordings from different locations of both the landscape and animals, to bring the sound design alive and help the listener travel to the different natural environments.
Working alongside Dr Mark Norman we wrote a script that brought together the interviews and Mark’s valuable insights.
The end result was a series that focuses on climate change impacts felt in parks across the state, the programs being built, the visibility, resources and capacity to address and manage these issues such as extinction risk, transforming ecosystems, rising and warming seas, and the responses of biological systems to the unprecedented speed of change.
