Pillow Talk

Seeking comfort after a difficult break up, Laura Nagy stumbled into the online world of ASMR ‘relationship role play audios’ - immersive, intimate recordings created by and for strangers on the internet. After escaping the rabbit hole, Laura channelled these experiences into this heart-gripping audio memoir.

“This is hands down the BEST podcast I have listened to in years! She navigates the story with irresistible humour and so much heart, going deep on the vulnerable topics that you always wanted to talk about but never do. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you might get a bit horny and you’ll definitely get a lot MAD. It’s one of those gripping adventures where you’ll be sad to see the minutes ticking down on the last episode. The sound design is nuts, I am so glad I heard this through headphones. It’s honestly like listening to your best friend tell you the most incredible story, but on steroids, and I loved every bit of it. DIVE IN IMMEDIATELY!!!”

SYNOPSIS

What starts as a documentary about loneliness and digital intimacy leads Laura into the inner circle of an online community using ASMR audios to heal from sexual trauma, violence and abuse. Through Laura’s humorous observations and difficult memories, Pillow Talk delicately explores the nuances of love, consent, coercive control and abuse, and the murky boundaries of intimacy in the online world.

WHAT WE DID

This was Easy Tiger’s first foray into podcasting, and Audiocraft were contracted to oversee the production. Senior Producer and Script Editor Jess Hamilton worked with Creator/Writer Laura Nagy, bringing various sound design elements in to write for the ear, curating features of ASMR and role play audio creators, and refining the overall narrative arc of the series. Jess worked with Sound Designer Adam Connelly to capture acted scenes that were recorded on location and in-studio, and designed to be mixed with binaural processing. Adam recorded ASMR and foley, mixing rich soundscapes and sound design to bring Laura’s story to life.
