The Younger Man

A rom-com audio fiction series, adapted from the novel by Zoë Foster Blake, about a burnt-out business-woman whose fling with a younger man turns into much more than she bargained for.

“The audio production skillset and the story skillset you need to create fiction that lives within an audio-first focus is a very different skill than putting together talk shows or putting together a TV drama. What we did was build a team with a diverse skillset, but the focus has always been audio-first production.”

SYNOPSIS

A rom-com audio fiction series, adapted from the novel by Zoë Foster Blake, about a burnt-out business-woman whose fling with a younger man turns into much more than she bargained for.

WHAT WE DID

Working with the team at Listnr on their first audio fiction project, alongside TV Executive Bob Campbell (Bryden Media), was an exciting creative challenge. While the bones of a great story were there, with strong characters and solid rom-com ingredients, the challenge was to adapt the book for an audio first product. This involved extensive script development and writers workshops, casting actors with an emphasis on voice and performance, and working with the production team to build a sound world where the characters and drama could truly come to life. It was a hugely collaborative project and an exciting, adventurous dive into the realm of audio fiction.
