Alphonse Mucha Audio Tour
Commissioned by the Art Gallery of NSW, this exhibition audio companion was designed to capture the sights, sounds and stories of late 19th-century Paris, bringing to life the innovative spirit of one of Art Nouveau’s greats, Alphonse Mucha.
“Within this sweeping exhibition, visitors will encounter an immersive digital experience of Mucha’s late great painting cycle, the Slav Epic, in a journey that helps uncover the artist behind the famous images.”

THE BRIEF
Realised in close cooperation with the Mucha Foundation, Prague, Alphonse Mucha: Spirit of Art Nouveau was the Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW) 2024 winter exhibition, and featured some of the most instantly recognisable and best-loved works in modern European art.
AGNSW collaborated with Audiocraft to create a series of audio stops that would capture the artist’s stylistic innovation and the times alongside the sights, sounds and stories of late 19th-century Paris.
WHAT WE DID
For this project, Audiocraft Senior Producer, Laura Brierley Newton worked with AGNSW’s Senior Curator of Exhibitions, Jackie Dunn whose knowledge and expertise was captured and distilled to create the script for each audio stop. While actors are sometimes employed to perform audio tour scripts, in this case it felt more authentic to have Jackie perform her scripts, giving listeners the opportunity to more directly connect with the perspectives and knowledge of the exhibition curator herself.
As this was a major exhibition for the gallery, we then worked with the gallery team to translate and record the scripts into French, Mandarin and Japanese, spending time to ensure both the translations, and the performance of those translations, were accurately reflecting the original scripts.
