If These Walls Could Talk

An audio love letter to the venues, parties, festivals and people both past and present which have shaped Australia's young, yet rich cultural history.

“This series will transport listeners on a journey through time to shine a light on the people, places and moments that have shaped Australia’s most storied nightlife communities”

— Red Bull

THE BRIEF

Red Bull engaged Audiocraft to create a second season of their podcast series – If These Walls Could Talk – sharing stories from iconic Australian live music venues. Season 2 was an audio love letter to venues, parties & people both past and present which have shaped the Sydney LGBTQI landscape.

After a successful partnership on Season 2, we went on to create Season 3, profiling some of Australia’s most iconic festivals and the women who helped shaped Australia’s most infamous musical rite of passage, the music festival.

WHAT WE DID

Audiocraft worked with Red Bull to develop and refine the podcast’s concept, audience and narrative of the series, and to research and curate interview talent across 2 seasons of the podcast.

Audiocraft handled talent communications, liaised with the podcast host, produced interviews in person (S1) and remote (S2 during the pandemic), wrote scripts, and edited/mixed these with field recordings, sound and music to bring episodes to life. We also repurposed interview content into written articles for online and supported promotion across our channels.

Featured talent in season 2 included original ‘78er Robyn Kennedy, Craig ‘Polly Petrie’, The Imperial Hotel’s reigning matriarch Farren Heitt, House Mother of House of Sle Bhenji Ra, and Heaps Gay’s Kat Dopper.

Season 3 featured the women behind Australia’s favourite festivals: Big Day Out, Secret Garden, Strawberry Fields, Isol-Aid, and Splendour In The Grass.
