Life and Debt

Australians are more in debt than ever before. A third of us are under financial stress. But how much do we actually know about debt? And why don’t we talk about it more often?

“Debt stood out to us as something that’s a challenge for everyone, but young people in particular, because debt is a part of life, and it will be a part of our future.”

— Iqra Bhatia, young ambassador from the BFO

THE BRIEF

Created with the Young Ambassadors from The Ethics Centre’s Banking and Finance Oath (The BFO) initiative, this podcast aims to start a national conversation about what debt is and how we might make better decisions about it.

In the four-part series, hosted by The Ethics Centre’s Cris Parker, hear from financial advisors, journalists, finfluencers, psychologists and historians about the psychology, the history, the marketing and the future of debt.

Because managing debt might be a part of life, but it’s not black and white.

WHAT WE DID

Audiocraft worked with The Ethics Centre and The BFO to create a four-episode narrative series about the psychology, history, marketing and future of debt in Australia.

We worked closely with the Young Ambassadors and BFO Executive Cris Parker to research, develop and produce an informative and balanced series featuring a range of expert voices. We helped break down a big and complex topic in a smart and accessible way.

AWARDS

Nominated for the Best Education Podcast at the 2022 Australian Podcast Awards.
