PORTLAND, UNPACKED

Faustina Agolley takes you straight to the streets of Portland, Oregon. The city’s reputation precedes it, but Faustina uncovers this is a city of many stories, many shades, and many perspectives.

“Agolley sets up the show as one packed full of information about the city, beautifully engineered to envelop you not just in the sound of the city – with the episodes recorded on location and in the wild – but also the sights and smells of the city too.”

THE BRIEF

Off the back of a successful video series, Travel Portland were looking for a new way to generate awareness about Portland to capture Australian travellers looking for new and different experiences. They wanted a highly produced series that lifts the lid on Portland, sharing the secrets of the city through compelling interviews with a range of interesting characters.

WHAT WE DID

Sydney based PR agency Barking Owl Communications brought us on to assist with podcast strategy and develop a few creative concepts to pitch to Travel Portland. The style needed to sound authentic and non-commercial, with a focus on personal narratives.

Once a direction was decided on, we brought on Faustina Agolley to host the series and travelled to Portland to collect in-depth interviews, sound-rich scenes, and on the ground observations for a tourist audience. Leaning on our team’s audio documentary skills, we packaged it all up into a six-part series with Agolley’s narration guiding the listener through the streets of Portland. The result is an intimate portrait of a city that marches to the beat of its own drum.
